Custom properties

Custom properties are fields (slots) that the team defines in advance. On a card of the chosen element type you fill only those fields. You cannot add ad-hoc name and value pairs on a single card.

The catalog belongs to the team, not to one project: the same slots appear in every team project for the chosen element type.

Creating a slot

  1. Choose the element type. The type cannot change after create. Available types: test case, bug, autotest, autotest run, object repository page and element, test run, test run result, test account, execution context, text document. There is no object repository folder in the catalog.
  2. Set a key in UPPERCASE (Latin letters, digits, underscore; starts with a letter). The key is unique per team and element type.
  3. Set a display name - testers see it on the card.
  4. Choose a value type.
  5. For URL, choose a single link or several. Other types are a single value, except Multi-select (always several).

From catalog copies system templates for the chosen element type. If the key already exists, that template is skipped.

Clone copies the slot in the same team with a new key and a name suffix. Dropdown options are copied. Values on element cards are not copied.

Value types

Type in the UIOne value or several
String, text, integer, date, user, checkbox, dropdownAlways one
Multi-selectAlways several
URLTeam admin chooses: one link or several

For Dropdown and Multi-select, add options on the slot details page (option key in UPPERCASE plus a label).

URL values accept http or https only. A link caption is optional.

Filling values on a card

  1. Open a card of the element type the slot belongs to.
  2. The properties block lists every team slot for that type, including empty ones.
  3. Enter a value, or add a row when the slot allows several values.
  4. Delete a value with the control in the slot row.

Empty slots stay visible. Cloning a case or bug copies filled values. Deleting the case or bug removes the values.

Limits

  • Slots are created for the element type you pick. There is no object repository folder type.
  • The feature is available on every plan. The team catalog has a capped number of slots (not values on cards). When the limit is reached, a new slot is not created. Live limits are on the team Total usage tab and on the product site.
  • The UI label Dropdown is the property type name. It is not the listing UI element called list.
